Learn to Skate (Canskate)
Learn to Skate is the next step for children. This program focuses on fun, participation, and basic skill development that is perfect for future hockey and ringette players or StarSkaters. Your child will earn badges as they learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons are given in a group format, taught by a NCCP certified professional coach. Professional coaches are assisted by trained program assistants. Skaters progress at their own rate in an active, fun environment that promotes learning. Skaters are moving 90% of the session time. Learn to Skate is the feeder program to all other programs offered by the Cambridge Skating Club. Skaters skate with a professional coach and trained program assistants the entire time!
Group ratio is 1 professional coach to 10 skaters. Helmets are strongly recommended.

Name Tags
Please ensure that your skater always wears their name tag. This ensures that they are registered with our club and they will not be allowed on the ice without their name tag. The coaches are able to identify skaters faster and call them by name, and the name tag also indicates which group they are in. You should receive one when you register. If you did not, please ask for one in the club office. There will be a $1.00 charge for replacement of lost or forgotten name tags.
FYI - We register each and every skater with Skate Canada. This $32.50 membership fee is paid yearly to Skate Canada. Not only does this membership give skaters insurance coverage, it also comes with the privilege of belonging to an association which is recognized the world over. Since the Cambridge Skating Club is a sanctioned club with Skate Canada, the club and skaters are entitled to participate in competitions, take tests, and participate in various events the club may hold during the skating season.
